Nathan is trying to streamline and improve the information systems he uses to track and monitor sales. He often finds out about poor sales in a region when the quarterly sales are compiled and sent in a custom report. He understands that, in order to improve sales and ensure that issues are accurately addressed in a timely fashion, he must have a system that enables him to analyse and drill down into data so he can determine the root of the problem and work with his team to resolve these issues before they create a quarterly or annual revenue problem that will require executive attention.

This analysis also revealed that differences in discounting rates from one state to another appeared to be at the heart of the decline in sales in Arkansas. Nathan quickly produces a graph that clearly shows the correlation between state discounts and sales and sends it to the National Sales Manager to recommend changes in discounting in Arkansas.
